IC3 Global Standard 4

The GS4 certification is comprised of three individual exams and is designed to validate competency in three key areas: Computing Fundamentals, Living Online, and Key Applications.

IC3 Spark

IC3SparkWith a focus on younger demographics, the IC3 Spark certification addresses the same foundational concepts as its precursor – the IC3 Digital Literacy Certification. While both certifications target issues arising from the increasing demands of technology, IC3 Spark is created for younger children who may be new to computers and the Internet, or who lack a solid foundation in digital concepts.

Exam retirement
IC3With the retirement of the Online Test Delivery System on December 31, 2017, the following exams are no longer available through the Online Test Delivery System. The exams will continue to be available through Console.

  • IC3 GS4: Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications, Living Online
  • IC3 GS5: Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications, Living Online
  • IC3 Spark
Exam lengths

IC3IC3 GS5 (each exam is 50 minutes):

  • Living Online – 50 Questions
  • Computing Fundamentals – 50 Questions
  • Key Applications – 45 Questions

IC3 GS4 (each exam is 50 minutes):

  • Living Online – 45 Questions
  • Computing Fundamentals – 45 Questions
  • Key Applications – 43 Questions

IC3 Other:

  • GS5 Spark – 45 Questions (50 minutes)
  • GS4 Spark – 60 Questions (50 minutes)
  • S4 Fast Track – 45 Questions (50 minutes)
Retake policies
  • If a candidate does not achieve a passing score on an exam the first time, the candidate must wait 24 hours before retaking the exam.
  • If a candidate does not achieve a passing score the second time, the candidate must wait 2 days (48 hours) before retaking the exam a third time.
  • A two-day waiting period will be imposed for each subsequent exam retake.
  • There is no annual limit on the number of attempts on the same exam.
  • If a candidate achieves a passing score on an IC3 exam, the candidate may take it again.

Test results found to be in violation of this retake policy will result in the candidate not being awarded the attempted credential, regardless of score.

This policy applies to both voucher-based and site-license-based Certiport Authorized Testing Centers.
